Life Smart

Those who think a lot about the universe, the future, the purpose of life, and discussing ideas of religion and global perspectives may have strength in Life Smarts. People who are Life Smart don't just think about "the big picture," but they have deep rooted beliefs and values, and have theories and answers to unknowable concepts like God, life after death, what truth really means, and the purpose of life.

This Existentialist Intelligence is very new, and not considered to be a concrete part of the Multiple Intelligences. Howard Gardner jokes that there are 8.5 Intelligences, because as of right now there are no specific markers to pin point this intelligence as a completely unique one. (Armstrong, 2014, p. 176). As such, there are also very few resources to use to connect with students with a strength in this area.

Students who posess strength in Life Smarts may enjoy learning through conversations about the purpose of life, their dreams and exploring how we know what we know. These students would greatly benefit from exploring projects through Bloom's Taxonomy, as they tend to be able to think on a metacognative level.
